Arlund Photo Retreat Image Review

Hey!!  I'm back from Chuck Arlund's workshop....better known as the Arlund Photo Retreat.  I'll give you an overview of everything later, but for now I want to throw up some images I shot.  There is sooooo much to share that I will have to put it all into different posts over a period of time.

But I know that some of you are dying to see, so here is a sneak peek of some images...

Chuck hired several models from agencies, and he flew in one model from Nashville.  I typically have no need for guy models in my portfolio, but there was a male model at the workshop who just absolutely was uber professional.  He couldn't take a bad picture and he pulled off any look that anyone requested.  At one point he even had on heavy make-up and he was so pretty he could have been a female.  I didn't take any of him n make-up, and honestly I didn't take many pictures of him at all because I just really don't have a great need for guys in my portfolio.

But wow was he a hottie!!   When we were first introduced, I was concerned because he had a pickle jar full of clear liquid.  I asked to see his ID and I smelled the pickle jar because I suspected it was moonshine.

It was water.

His "water bottle".  And so, he turned out to be a pretty good guy...he even wrote thank you cards to all the people who did lots of work behind the scenes to make our meals and clean up after us.

He's got a good future in modeling ahead of him, and there is a picture of him and his pickle jar somewhere on this post if you want to see it.  Enough about him though!!  (Can you tell I was super impressed!!).

So, we played with lots of different lighting situations and gear. Wish I had more time to go into detail now  but you'll just have to wait.  There was an infinity pool that just was amazing.  The location where we were at is a huge blog post all by itself.  Enjoy looking at these, and I will share more information about the workshop...I mean, Retreat...later when I have more time.  xoxo, Sharon

A Boudoir Surprise for Valentine's Day

On-location hair and make-up for this session were provided by Michelle James Salon in Surrey Center. Check out the Augusta Boudoir website and contact Sharon to get on the Augusta boudoir calendar! www.augustaboudoir.com

We've had such mild weather in Georgia this season, but I'm not complaining because it's perfect for some outdoor boudoir. My gorgeous client had a very distinct vision about how she wanted her boudoir shoot to unfold. She wanted to bring her vintage daybed, and I was as in love with this bed as she was!! I love, love, love when clients add their own special style and meaningful props to a shoot.

We were rocking her outdoor bedroom shoot right along until a little shower popped up and ran us off. We packed up the bed quickly and moved inside for some shots with a totally different feel to them.

But as soon as we noticed it wasn't raining outside anymore, we took the opportunity to get some more shots we wanted to do outdoors. I think she is a natural model!

And this last image is one that will be hanging in her home...when this beautiful image arrived as a 20"x30" wall portrait, I was stunned at how gorgeous it was. Happy Valentine's Day to this very sexy and sweet lady...hope your honey is blown away! What a lucky guy.

Bar Boudoir: Augusta, Georgia Lingerie Photographer

www.augustaboudoir.com

Hair/make-up by Kayla of Michelle James

It's not too often that I get to share images, so this is a rare treat! I had the great opportunity Linkto do an on-location shoot for a lovely and super sweet lady who wanted her session done at a fine drinking establishment in downtown Augusta...Stillwater Taproom. The owners were kind enough to open their doors on Broad Street for us bright an early one morning!

We had the whole place to ourselves for a big chunk of the day....talk about on-location! She did this session as a surprise for her guy, and she brought along some items that belong to him. He plays the guitar, and I really don't think he'll ever look at his guitar the same again.

And who knew that darts could be so sexy...

It was such a fun time, and she totally nailed it....see how easy she makes it look to be supermodel gorgeous!

Actually, just sitting there looking smoking hawt is a lot harder than you might think (but not for her)....

I love it when friends come along to lend support during shoots because they always know what to say to get a laugh!
Oh and we had to throw in some Jack to make it a true bar shot! It's been a looooong time since my bar hopping days, so it was a nice change of pace for me. I was so glad to spend the day with such a sweet and awesome woman, and thank you to everyone who had a hand in pulling this session off!

Making Georgia A Lot Sexier - Augusta, Georgia Lingerie Photographer

I'm sooooo excited to share with you some my favorite images from when I went to Washington, DC & for an on-location shoot at a super swanky and super sexy hotel. More on that in a minute.....here's some great information you'll want to know....

Everything with Augusta Boudoir is starting to come together nicely and I'm finally ready to share with you everything I've been doing to make Augusta, Georgia a whole lot sexier!! I spent the entire summer training in various ways with some of the most awesome and most sought after boudoir photographers.

I'm happy to tell you that I'm officially a Christa Meola graduate and I've been doing some serious mentoring with Kim Mallory of the Beautiful Woman Project. I'll be interviewing Kim on my blog in the near future, so hang tight! But I'm writing this blog post to tell you about a super cool photographer whom hundreds of boudoir photographers across the nation adore! Her name is Robin Owen and she owns the Boudoir Photography Network, which brings boudoir photographers from across the world together. I had the rare chance to shoot alongside Robin and learn from her while in D.C. Actually meeting her in person and watching her work her magic with the camera was an extra bonus!

Robin brought along a make-up artist and this lovely model, who was serious about being sexy! She has an online wardrobe catalog for photographers to go to and select clothing options they want her to wear during the shoot. Well, she didn't actually wear a lot of clothing for our shoot, so these are a handful of the images I can show on my blog.

My clients are typically very conservative, married moms who wouldn't think of stripping down bare in front of a camera, so these images are a little more risque than I usually shoot! Enjoy them, and know that I'm doing everything I can to help all of Augusta find its sexy side!!

Lucky 7 Artists in Augusta - Georgia Boudoir Photographer

I had a chance to step out of my own comfort zone with this super sexy and super cool shoot in downtown Augusta with Lucky 7 Tattoo. It's ironic that about half my clients have at least one tattoo somewhere on their body, but until doing this shoot, I had never actually stepped foot in a tattoo shop before. Walking through the Lucky 7 door stretched my creativity and challenged me in so many new ways.

It was great meeting the staff at Lucky 7...they are artists like me, although I think my subjects sure are a lot sexier than theirs...

I think it's pretty amazing that Lucky 7 has been in Augusta, Georgia for only 3 months, yet they have evidently built a pretty good client base already. It is jointly owned by R.J. and Chris, who is the main tattoo artist and grew up in the industry. He has been tattooing in Augusta for over 13 years. R.J. came to Augusta from New York and has helped establish a great work environment for the home of some of Augusta's top tattoo artists. I thought it was interesting that they've also managed to attract an artist all the way from Las Vegas!

This shoot was little bit edgy and a whole lot of fun!

I hate to ruin a tattoo shop's rough around the edges image, but I actually found that I have a lot in common with the staff at Lucky 7. I felt right at home there partly because they are parents like me. Don't tell anyone, but I even saw a mini-van parked out front of the shop.

I don't have any tattoos, so I went into this viewing it as a an educational field trip of sorts. I came out of it with a softer heart because I made some very touching discoveries. I learned that people get tattoos for many reasons, including reminding them of someone they lost or celebrating a victory, or both.

You see the vine on her mid-section....she lost her mother and grandmother to cancer so each year that she is cancer-free, she adds to her vine to celebrate another year of living. Whew...here come the tears in my eyes!!

When I'm doing an on-location boudoir session, I don't like bringing many of my own props because you just never know what you're going to find on-location that will add fun to the session and make it truly unique.

While I was exploring the Lucky 7 shop searching for props, I came across this guy and asked him if he'd like to join us. Are you kidding...he wasn't about to turn me down for the chance to be part of this "bare bones boudoir" shot. You can tell that this is the most excitement he's had in quite a while...he kept that devious little grin on his face the whole time!!

The Lucky 7 space is HUGE!!!!!!! I mean, HUGE!!!! I loved exploring every inch of it, which had all sorts of options for completely different looks. It really is a great place, and I hope that you'll stop by and say hi or even get some ink if you're ever in downtown Augusta, Georgia! You might even see some of the Augusta Boudoir artwork on their walls...along with other art from local artists!

Augusta Boudoir Photographer: Beautiful Birthday Gift

To see more Augusta Boudoir images, visit www.augustaboudoir.com

I thought it was so cool when this lovely grandmother contacted me about doing a boudoir session to celebrate her 64th birthday!! Celebrating beauty is what boudoir is all about, even at an older age. She is a vibrant and spunky lady all the way around...she even brought her iPad and we listened to her favorite playlist during the session, which we did at a hotel.

Brittany at Studio 285 in Evans did a fabulous job on her hair. She also came equipped with several pairs of eyelashes to choose from, so we went with these super sexy studded lashes. They are lined with little sparkling gems...kind of like jewelry for your eyes. I wanted to make sure I caught a close up of her lashes because they were so unique. They added a little sparkle to the images, and I'd love to photograph someone else with lashes like these again (hint, hint).

I hope her birthday experience encourages other grandmothers to indulge in a boudoir session to celebrate their mature beauty also!

Boudoir Photography Augusta, Georgia: Mrs. Rock it!

For pricing/session information go to the Augusta Boudoir website: www.augustaboudoir.com

My mouth dropped when Mrs. R showed walked through the door for her mini session that was part of my first ever marathon event at a hotel. I could tell she had done this before, and I was right..modeling is part of her resume. Lucky me!! She sat down & we didn't look back. She is Mrs. R as in Mrs. Rock It!

I would never have guessed that she is the mom of three! If only I could look like her....I have 3 kids, but my body actually looks like a 3-kid body!!!

She had a vision for some very specific shots that involved the hotel bar, and we completely nailed it to make her vision a reality. I was so pleased with the results, even though these are not my tyical "style", I am very proud of the images because they turned out nicely.

Even though I have a boudoir studio, I really enjoy shooting at hotels because of the variety in backgrounds. Sorry, but I just don't have a jumbo sized jacuzzi whirlpool tub at my studio. That would be a nice addition, but don't hold your breath...it's not in the plans anytime soon! If you want to book your session at a hotel, the cost of the hotel needs to be paid at least 7 days in advance so I can make sure there is enough time to make reservations. It's an extra expense, but it's also extra fun and you'll love all the options for different looks in your images!
