Meet the staff at Michelle James. Kayla and Grace are the main on-location hair/make-up artists who transform Augusta Boudoir clients into looking like they just stepped out of a magazine.....

Sharon is one of the owners, and she is the main stylist who does all the Michelle James Beautiful clients while at Surrey Center. She has a photography & modeling background, so she is awesome at being hands on during the Michelle James Beautiful shoots!

Jill is the person at Michelle James with magic hands. She does all the facials and massage therapy. You'll walk out of there with baby soft beautiful skin. Her facials also include a skin moisturizing treatment that is great for getting rid of dry skin before boudoir sessions.

Be assured that all the staff who do your hair/make-up on location are female, but I'm introducing you to the guys at Michelle James too....they're a lot of fun!

Audie is also part-owner of Michelle James. He's a ton of fun to be around at the salon.

I hear that Scott recently got engaged, so he's off the market ladies but you can still see him at Michelle James!

And finally, Wanda is the person who does all the behind the scenes operations at Michelle James. She's probably the person you'll talk to on the phone...she's super nice so call her to make an appointment. Oh, and when Michelle James does your hair/make-up for your Augusta Boudoir session, you get a little gift from them in the mail. Sweet!

Lucky 7 Artists in Augusta - Georgia Boudoir Photographer

I had a chance to step out of my own comfort zone with this super sexy and super cool shoot in downtown Augusta with Lucky 7 Tattoo. It's ironic that about half my clients have at least one tattoo somewhere on their body, but until doing this shoot, I had never actually stepped foot in a tattoo shop before. Walking through the Lucky 7 door stretched my creativity and challenged me in so many new ways.

It was great meeting the staff at Lucky 7...they are artists like me, although I think my subjects sure are a lot sexier than theirs...

I think it's pretty amazing that Lucky 7 has been in Augusta, Georgia for only 3 months, yet they have evidently built a pretty good client base already. It is jointly owned by R.J. and Chris, who is the main tattoo artist and grew up in the industry. He has been tattooing in Augusta for over 13 years. R.J. came to Augusta from New York and has helped establish a great work environment for the home of some of Augusta's top tattoo artists. I thought it was interesting that they've also managed to attract an artist all the way from Las Vegas!

This shoot was little bit edgy and a whole lot of fun!

I hate to ruin a tattoo shop's rough around the edges image, but I actually found that I have a lot in common with the staff at Lucky 7. I felt right at home there partly because they are parents like me. Don't tell anyone, but I even saw a mini-van parked out front of the shop.

I don't have any tattoos, so I went into this viewing it as a an educational field trip of sorts. I came out of it with a softer heart because I made some very touching discoveries. I learned that people get tattoos for many reasons, including reminding them of someone they lost or celebrating a victory, or both.

You see the vine on her mid-section....she lost her mother and grandmother to cancer so each year that she is cancer-free, she adds to her vine to celebrate another year of living. Whew...here come the tears in my eyes!!

When I'm doing an on-location boudoir session, I don't like bringing many of my own props because you just never know what you're going to find on-location that will add fun to the session and make it truly unique.

While I was exploring the Lucky 7 shop searching for props, I came across this guy and asked him if he'd like to join us. Are you kidding...he wasn't about to turn me down for the chance to be part of this "bare bones boudoir" shot. You can tell that this is the most excitement he's had in quite a while...he kept that devious little grin on his face the whole time!!

The Lucky 7 space is HUGE!!!!!!! I mean, HUGE!!!! I loved exploring every inch of it, which had all sorts of options for completely different looks. It really is a great place, and I hope that you'll stop by and say hi or even get some ink if you're ever in downtown Augusta, Georgia! You might even see some of the Augusta Boudoir artwork on their walls...along with other art from local artists!

Augusta Boudoir Photographer: Beautiful Birthday Gift

To see more Augusta Boudoir images, visit www.augustaboudoir.com

I thought it was so cool when this lovely grandmother contacted me about doing a boudoir session to celebrate her 64th birthday!! Celebrating beauty is what boudoir is all about, even at an older age. She is a vibrant and spunky lady all the way around...she even brought her iPad and we listened to her favorite playlist during the session, which we did at a hotel.

Brittany at Studio 285 in Evans did a fabulous job on her hair. She also came equipped with several pairs of eyelashes to choose from, so we went with these super sexy studded lashes. They are lined with little sparkling gems...kind of like jewelry for your eyes. I wanted to make sure I caught a close up of her lashes because they were so unique. They added a little sparkle to the images, and I'd love to photograph someone else with lashes like these again (hint, hint).

I hope her birthday experience encourages other grandmothers to indulge in a boudoir session to celebrate their mature beauty also!

Vendors

I would like to thank a few people who helped make our 1st ever boudoir marathon sessions such a success! And a special thanks goes out to my assistant Jen who fussed over the ladies, moved equipment around, cleaned up after us and a hundred other things that I couldn't do from behind the camera.

Hair/Make-up:
The staff from Michelle James provided on-location hair/make-up services for the marathon session. They are true artists, and they also provided beauty tips and tricks to the ladies as they did their hair and make-up. They are so much more than just a salon...they even have a full skin care menu of services including massages (and lunch if you get hungry!). I'll do a future blog post with a lot more details about their staff and services in a future blog post! In the meantime, call them to see how cool they are: 706.733.9424

Essential Oils:
The ladies who took advantage of the marathon special left with a little treat to help spice up their night when they went back home. Swissjust Consultant Heather Stanton shipped samples of the Jasmine essential oil, which I accidentally confirmed as beng highly effective.

Scensty:
One thing that everyone noticed as soon as they walked into the hotel room was the beautiful smell of the room, which added to the mood of the day. Thank you to Scentsy Director Cristie Ramirez, who provided an elegant warmer and specially selected Scentsy bar, which help fill the room with a beautiful fragrance.

Jewelry:
Guy and Eva jewelry pieces were on hand from Consultant Lori Hughes during the marathon sessions. Thank you so much Lori for trusting us with all your beautifully crafted jewelry!

Augusta Boudoir: Marathon Fun

These shots are from the first ever Augusta Boudoir Photography marathon. It was such a fun and high energy day! This is one of my marathon clients....she showed up at the crack of dawn and we truly had a fun time with her shoot. I know it was such a memorable and special day for her as well.

She loved the pictures, but it was something her husband said that really touched my heart....he said "Thank you for showing my wife how I've seen her for years". Thinking about his reaction brings tears to my eyes each time I think of it. That's the same type of response that soooo many husbands have!! It's not hard for husbands to see the value and beauty of boudoir.

I think that's one of the absolute BEST rewards of my job....I get to add a little more love, warmth and excitement to marriages! We can go ahead and add boudoir to the list of things that can help contribute to a healthy marriage!

I love these shots below....they make me laugh because I remember how funny this moment was, and how much fun the entire day was!
